The New Year's Plunge: Polar Bear Style

Rick decided to start to greet the new year with a splash....and half naked. He participated in the "Polar Bear Dip" at the southend of Lake Washington. If you don't know, this is when a bunch of crazy people run and dive into the water on New Year's morning wearing only their bathing suits. They say it's invigorating... whatever.

As you can see the water was warmer than the air: 46° vs. 43°. Luckily there was no snow like last year.




"I told him he's crazy."



"You sure about this Daddy??"






Unfortunately, this is the last picture we have of Rick on that fateful day. Oh, nothing like that! We mean because the battery died in the camera.


The rest went kind of like this:
- a guy on the bullhorn yelled "go",
- lots of people in bathing suits went running in the water,
- there was a lot of screaming.

And then we went home.
